In the first days of Canada’s canoe kayak National Team training camp in Indian Habour Beach; FL, amidst sore muscles, ice baths and blistering hands we find ourselves, as a team, inspired, watching and cheering on our winter sport counterparts in Vancouver (A past time that engulfs every second of our off time). Last night, three full buildings of Canadian canoe kayak athletes erupted in cheers and celebration as Alexandre Bilodeau’s inspirational story and outstanding performance in men’s moguls catapulted him into Canadian and Olympic history.
As we begin preparation in the second half of our own quadrennial for London, and in the long term Brasil-we are working hard on and off the water to shed the same hundreths of a second that earned our Canadian athletes a birth on the 2010 Olympic team.
The following are end of stage wrap-ups of Team Garmin-Transitions and Team RIVALUS Athlete Christian Meier from the 2010 Tour Mediterranean.
STAGE 1
Today 170km race featured many climbs and again the wind was rearing it’s ugly head. After yesterdays cold stage we figured it could only get warmer from there, we were sadly mistaken. We rolled off the start in -2 C temps, which would be the average temperature for the day, light flurries falling throughout the day. Early in the race 3 riders escaped including my teammate Dan, and after spending some 165km in the break away he was caught by the chasing peleton within 1km remaining. For myself the day went well, my legs feeling good, but with Dan in the breakaway we just remain in the peleton and follow. Tomorrow’s stage is at the moment in jeopardy as the temperatures are suppose to remain below freezing with possible snow overnight, but I guess we will see in the morning. For now it’s sleep.
Life is very busy; we work more hours to make more money and keep up with life’s demands. Unfortunately this leads to less time for working out which can lead to increased stress levels and puts us at risk for other health problems! You’ve got your gym membership but you just can’t find the time to use it. By the time you drive to the gym, workout and shower then drive back home or to the office you have often lost up to two hours of your day. You thought you would cut down some time by getting some dumbbells, a stability ball and bench at home. Seemed like a great idea at the time but you just can’t seem to find the motivation to workout for an hour a day at home!
If this is you, then I have the answer to your problems. There are many programs on the internet, but none of them are quite like this. The tables below allow you to track your progress and see results fast in less then 20 minutes per day; all you need is a bit of space, creativity and a stop watch. These workouts are for EVERYONE regardless of initial fitness level and will help you lose weight and tone your body!
