Being healthy is about making healthy choices all throughout the day. Choosing to walk rather than drive or making the choice to eat a healthy meal or snack instead of an unhealthy one are important health decisions we make every day. If you want to make the right choices about what foods you eat, it’s important to understand what foods you should avoid:
Food #1: Carbonated Pop or Soda
Pop is loaded with sugar, bad calories, and other chemicals that cause your bones to erode. If you want to become healthier, you need to cut pop and soda out of your diet. Opting for water, juice, tea, or milk are all much better choices than that can of cola.

I don’t know if you have seen these new shoes that some companies have put out, but I have. They have shoes specifically designed to burn fat while you wear them.
The way they do this is by adding small spring-like structures under the heel of the shoe. These springs help to propel you forward and keep you slightly off balance. The result is supposed to be less stress on your legs and back as well as more tone to your legs, thighs, and buttocks. The question is, do they work?

Yoga is wildly popular. It promotes a mind-body connection through focusing on strength and flexibility. One big question is can Yoga be considered a viable calorie burning form of exercise? It can if you do the right type. Ashtanga Yoga is a cardio based type of Yoga that can burn about 480 calories per hour for a 150 pound woman. Power Yoga and Hot Yoga are two other types of Yoga that can provide a cardio based work out. In comparison typical Yoga types only burn about 150 calories per hour for a 150 pound woman. By adding three 90 minute sessions of Ashtanga Yoga per week one can see weight loss benefits in addition to the traditional strength and flexibility gains. Something else to consider is the connection between Yoga and weight loss even if not practicing Yoga as cardio. National Cancer Institute research has shown that people who practice Yoga at least 30 minutes per week lose more weight than those following otherwise similar lifestyles. While the exact cause of this weight loss gain is unknown the study emphasizes the mind-body connection. The Sun Salutation seems to be a key Yoga pose when looking to achieve weight loss benefits. For maximum benefit the Sun Salutation should be done at a rate of 4 rounds per minute for a total of at least 24 rounds per day.

One of the reasons Zumba is so easy to follow along with is that there are only 4 or 5 steps or moves per song.

I was 15 and my brother was 9. We were playing The Game of Life. It was usually a safe game to play with the boy who hated losing. With Life, there isn’t much skill involved, just a bunch of luck, so I couldn’t be accused of playing unfair against my brother. This particular game of Life, I was getting all the luck. I was picking up kids left and right, winning the jackpot, really anything good happened to me. My brother didn’t get so lucky. He got a crappy salary at the beginning and kept spinning a 1. About midway through I could see that this was going to end very badly. Another 15 minutes passed before he threw the game against the wall, my little car of children going flying. He cried all the way into his bedroom, slamming the door as he went in.

Several years ago I decided to begin running again for exercise. I was inspired by a friend who had joined a triathlon group. He was already in good shape and wanted to really maximize his workouts. We started running weekly and I soon remembered why I hated running in the past. My feet hurt, my legs would become like jelly, all just before my chest would explode. This, of course, occurred only after a few miles of running with my athletic friend. After a month I realized that I needed to look at my work out and find out why it left me in such poor shape every time.
