Training To Peak When You Need To

Performance running is all about speed over distance, but you don’t always need to be training that way. Long slow runs help develop excellent core muscles while explosive workouts provide you with that kick you need to finish a race strong. The trick is finding a system that utilizes all these exercises together. When you workout with a plan and have a competitive goal, you can train to peak right at the time of your event.

Decrease Your Recovery Time

Inserts V.S. Orthotics

I have been plagued by a flat foot my whole life. This has lead to general foot pain as well as frequent shin splints. I have been looking at getting help to stop the suffering. Through my research, I have found two options, medically prescribed orthotics or over-the-counter shoes inserts.

Orthotics are expensive. That is the only reason I have not gotten them. My insurance does not pay for them, so I have never been able to justify the money for something when I can run through the pain for free.  I can see the extreme benefit for them. I can put them in whatever shoe I am using, whether it be my cleats or running shoes. They last a very long time. Orthotics are the only way I can get my exact needs in an insert, fitted perfectly to my foot.

Vitamin C and Its Importance for Athletes

You think it’s just useful for preventing the common cold, stop right there everybody. You could have the best diet ever but if it lacks vitamin C you are not likely going to get anywhere. As an antioxidant, this powerful vitamin helps to protect your muscles from free radical damage and enhances recovery.  It is also a highly water-soluble vitamin meaning it distributes super easily through water.
